FREE time parking across the CBD will come to an end on the 18th. July.
Council has decided to offer FREE parking between 9am and 11am in the off street car parks, with a lot of businesses not opening until 10am this will offer very little relief to businesses.
Council claims the return to paid parking is necessary to prevent people from overstaying the parking time limits and remove the necessity for the local laws officers to chalk tyres.
Why did we spend so much on this new technology? We were told the new state of the art parking machines could be adapted to suit the needs of the city, including a free parking period.
Both Ballarat and Geelong have their machines programmed to offer a free parking period to customers, this requires no extra work by the local laws officers and certainly no chalking of tyres. Please don’t expect us to believe your reasoning for finishing the free parking is that it is problematic.
Use the technology we paid all the money for and offer 90 mins/2 hours parking in the off street park and give our city some badly needed oxygen.
Ballarat & Geelong City Council can do it, why not Warrnambool?
